I am an experienced Health, Safety, Environmental and Fire Safety Consultant and Trainer, with extensive hands-on operational experience across the healthcare, leisure, utilities, engineering, construction, and education sectors. With a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, I bring a strong technical foundation combined with practical industry experience, enabling me to deliver current, competent, and tailored support to organisations of all sizes. My background gives me the ability to bridge engineering knowledge with real-world operational challenges, ensuring solutions are both robust and practical. I am a registered consultant with the HSE Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR) and hold Fellowships with leading professional bodies, reflecting my commitment to high standards and professional excellence.

As Director of Operations at Evolution Safety Solutions, I provide strategic HSE&F advisory services, working with clients to ensure regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and operational excellence. My work spans from Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (PAS 9980:2022) and Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) through to Planning Fire Safety Strategies (PFSS) and fire engineering solutions that address detection, alarms, sprinklers, watermist, hydrants, smoke ventilation, compartmentation and hazardous environments (DSEAR/ATEX). I am also a qualified Lead Auditor for ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 19443, supporting organisations in achieving and maintaining internationally recognised safety and quality standards. Sean is an experienced fire and risk professional with over 25 years of experience in the fire and safety sector. His career spans extensive operational, strategic and consultancy roles, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of fire safety management, regulatory compliance and complex risk environments. As an Associate Fire & Risk Consultant with Evolution Safety Solutions, Sean specialises in the development of fire strategies, fire risk assessments and regulatory compliance advice for a wide range of sectors. His work includes supporting clients with Building Regulations fire safety design, DSEAR risk assessments, COMAH screening assessments, evacuation strategy development and complex fire safety reviews for residential, commercial and industrial environments. Sean combines significant frontline operational experience with a pragmatic, risk-based consultancy approach. This allows him to translate regulatory requirements and technical guidance into clear, practical solutions that support both life safety and organisational resilience. His professional background includes senior incident command, leadership and multi-agency emergency response, alongside experience in training delivery, policy development and business continuity planning. This breadth of experience enables Sean to provide strategic fire safety advice that is both technically robust and operationally realistic. Sean is a Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (MIFSM) and holds a Level 6 qualification in Advanced Incident Command.

Hi, I'm Derek. With over 15 years of experience in the Ministry of Defence as a Senior Professional Technological Officer, I transitioned into industry as a Chartered Mechanical and Electrical Engineer. I then advanced into Quality Management for a multi-site manufacturing company, becoming the lead auditor for ISO 9001 and a Chartered Quality professional. Currently, I am the Chairman of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) Wales Branch. Currently, I provide ESS with consultancy, invigilation, and financial control. My extensive experience includes overseeing quality, inspection, design, health & safety, and training departments, and maintaining ISO certifications.

Hi, I'm Steve. After spending ten years in the 1st Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers, I moved into civilian life and started working in the transport sector. I've picked up skills in operations, planning, and management along the way. Taking the IOSH Managing Safely course was a turning point for me, igniting my interest in health and safety. I love learning and sharing what I know, which is why I became a compliance instructor. As a technical trainer and assessor, my role is to support you with compliance, health, safety, and environmental matters.

Hi, I’m Rob. I have over thirty years’ experience in training delivery, and have gathered a wealth of knowledge from exposure to a variety of multi-client sectors along the way. My background includes seven years’ service with the Army reserve (Queen’s Regt.), commercial diving, construction and security, before moving into first-aid and fire safety training. I spent four years with London Fire Brigade in training design consultancy with the Commercial Training and Fire Safety Inspectorate teams, and moved on to working on the digital training design contract for fire-fighting technical skills, with Babcock International.  Attaining post-grad diploma in management, I later progressed in to training in supervisory management & leadership, Agile project management and continuous improvement. Prior to coming on board with ESS, I worked with a training consultancy, working alongside clients in the defence, nuclear, oil & gas sectors, in both the UK and EMEA, assisting them in improving design and delivery of their technical training.  Whilst working alongside the nuclear sector, I attained NSAN, Magnox and National Waste Programme qualifications in Nuclear new-build sites, security, low-level radiation waste, environment awareness and behavioural safety. My spare time finds me hiking around the Brecon Beacons, and helping in maintaining the public access routes as a volunteer warden with the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority.

Hi, I’m Joshua, I am a Fire Risk Assessor currently undertaking structured professional development under the supervision of senior consultants as I progress towards becoming a Fire Engineering Consultant. I have successfully completed a City & Guilds Assured course in Fire Risk Assessment, a Fire Door Inspectors course, and the NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate. I also hold a Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment. These qualifications provide me with formal training and competence in conducting fire risk assessments, identifying fire safety hazards, and recommending appropriate fire safety measures in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and guidance. I am affiliated with several recognised professional bodies, including the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM), and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). I actively contribute to fire risk assessments across a range of sectors and premises, continuing to develop my practical experience in fire hazard identification, fire safety legislation, risk evaluation and proportionate risk mitigation. As part of my ongoing professional development, my work is undertaken within a structured system of technical oversight, with assessments reviewed by suitably qualified and experienced senior fire safety professionals. This provides appropriate quality assurance and helps ensure that my assessments are completed in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant supporting guidance.

I bring extensive experience in bookkeeping and finance management across a range of industries, including responsibility for VAT, reconciliations, management reporting, cash flow and day-to-day financial administration. I am AAT Level 4 qualified and experienced in accounting systems including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.

My main areas of specialism are confined space, technical rope rescue and EUSR technical courses. I bring over 23 years of military experience, including extensive time as an instructor, alongside a strong background in technical training, emergency response and working in high-risk environments.
