Confined Space Training - Medium Risk

Confined Space Training - Medium Risk

+vat per person (2-day)

On location at our training centre in Abercynon. We can deliver this at your site for a minimum of 3 persons.

This 2-day confined space training course is suitable for those who work in confined spaces where a specified risk may be present. It will require the use of escape breathing apparatus. It will involve the presence of one or more people - positioned outside the confined space - who have designated responsibilities for controlling entry and dealing with emergencies.

What will I learn on this training course?

This training course covers what you need to know to work safely in a medium-risk confined space. The course certifies the entrant and entry controller/ top person.

A medium-risk confined space is one where there is a realistic expectation of a specified risk. The course involves working as a team and requires candidates to use environmental monitoring, escape breathing apparatus and access equipment.

Candidates will learn how to:

  • Prepare to work safely in medium-risk confined spaces
  • Enter and exit a confined space safely
  • Use equipment and tools safely
  • Follow working procedures and work safely
  • Deal with emergencies
  • Understand the principles of working in medium-risk confined spaces
  • Understand entry controller duties and responsibilities
  • Understand standard protocols for working in medium-risk confined spaces

NC2 Classification

Vertical direct unobstructed access with continuous attachment to a man-riding hoist or similar mechanical rescue device.

Escape Set (Self Rescue) breathing apparatus required to be taken into medium risk

NC3 Classification

When it is not possible to have persons permanently attached to a safety line. Usually, it will be a team entry that moves away from the entry point. Eg: Man entry sewers, utility service subway tunnels, aqueducts, and complex wet walls. Working without an attached rescue line includes working away from the point of entry.

A 15-minute Escape Set (Self Rescue) breathing apparatus is required to be taken into medium risk and you will be trained in this process.

All participants will require full PPE for this course, including full body overalls. Each candidate requires the use of a 15 Minute Hooded Escape Set. If you don't have access to these, don't stress as we can hire them for you and you will be charged at cost for their use.
